Pink yo-yo t-shirt and some organisation

There are more in the works, but the first one is finished!  Miss Clare really enjoyed arranging yo-yos on her t-shirt.

She thinks that they look like a necklace.  They’re hand-stitched in place with a small running stitch.

I’m not certain that they’re quite the effect I was after, but I don’t know exactly what I was after (I’ll know it if I ever see it, I think).  Clare is very pleased though, because it is all her design.

Otherwise, I’ve had a weekend of completing organisational tasks.  You know, all those “little” jobs that need to be done that once added together take all day (or two).

A pin-board to go above my desk and computer:

Super-fast and easy; made out of that compressed fibre-board sort of stuff from Bunnings, with Kaffe Fassett fabric stretched over it and stapled into place on the back.

And I’ve finally organised my shoes.

I’d been eyeing off those clear shoe boxes that are around nowadays, but thought that the $300-$400 it would cost me to buy enough of them for my shoes would be better spent differently (maybe on yarn or fabric or patterns or books …).  I have been meaning to do this for ages – lots of books about organisation and storage suggest photographing your shoes and sticking the photos on the boxes.  And yay, you can see the results above!  It was actually pretty simple – take one digital camera, one computer, one colour printer and about one hour.  Empty out all your shoes, figure out which ones you no longer wear and put them aside for charity, put all the rest into boxes, photograph, print, cut out the photos and stick on the end of the box.  Then put all the boxes back (I put the winter shoes and those I wear the least down the bottom) and admire your neat and organised wardrobe!  The front box holds five pairs of thong style shoes (flip-flops for the non-Australians).  There are a few pairs of boots that will fit in front of the boxes, and some slippers in another cupboard, but otherwise I can see all my shoes at a glance.

And before you get too horrified at the number of shoes, I have a friend whose husband is in the shoe trade – and my feet are sample size!
