Fabric yo-yos and more crochet inspiration
Over the past few evenings I have been busy making fabric yo-yos.
Miss Clare has had a lovely time sorting them into different groups according to shape, then according to size, then according to colour, then according to those she likes and dislikes. She likes to categorise and organise – like mother, like daughter! I used the Clover yo-yo makers – they do make it a little faster and simpler to make yo-yos and ensure that the sizes and gathers are nice and even. Hopefully I’ll be able to blog what I’ve done with them in the next few days!
I did stick to my “no online fabric shopping in December” vow – but instead mooched on over to Amazon and purchased a couple more crochet books.
I’ve only had a quick flick through them thus far, but all contain some terrific projects. Everyday Crochet in particular has brilliant tops – I’m looking forward to making some of them for myself!
As you can imagine, my to-do list is absurdly long again. I need to write it all down but I think it might scare me! My biggest problem at the moment is deciding what to do next – there is so much I’d like to tackle. I only have a couple of hours each evening to crochet or sew or read and at times I am almost paralysed with indecision because of too many choices! Fingers crossed that I may manage to get a few projects completed this weekend – it’s going to be another scorcher so staying inside with the air-con on is a great option.
Hello. i just have to leave a comment. I just read all your post, yes all, just because i’m amazed with all the beautiful things that you do with fabric. I guess i got the will to also try to do something. I stoped by the post that you wrote about “how do i do it”, and it is so true. I also have two little girls, but sometimes i don’t play with them the real time that i should play, and yes they also watch more tv then they supose to see. I do undertand that. But at the end of the day i can see something done by me. It feels nice also. Congrats on all your work. I’ll visit you again 🙂
Hi Lara, I get that feeling too sometimes , there is so much to do that I can’t do anything – crazy isn’t it. I am very keen to see what becomes of your yo-yo’s. I have a container full that I have yet to find a purpose for.
Are you over the heat ???
‘Tis the season for yo-yo’s, it seems…. I’ve been at it, too! Meditation on my holidays, since I can’t manage to sit still (also been madly embroidering things, but that’s another story…).
TIP FOR EASY PROJECT FOR YO-YO’S – sew them on to those little fabric piggy-tail hairband thingames and sew a little button on top to make a “flower” (or just use the flower yo-yo’s). VERY CUTE pigtails on little girls!! (They’re also cute as an embellishment if you tie them in with an embroidered design… make flowers with stems.. umm… am I talking about embroidery again?).
Yay – cool change on the way! I’m WELL over this heat!
oooo, I haven’t seen Everyday Crochet. I’ll have to see if I can find it. 🙂
another yo-yo project here for you.
