They weren’t kidding – this bag is huge! More luggage than a bag, really. I’m glad that it’s finally done!
Thanks to hubby for modelling it for me! It’s a double lining, with inside pockets (zipped on one side, patch on the other) and closes at the top with a zip.
The only exposed inside seams (the overlocked ones) are where I joined the top gusset to the rest of the bag. I didn’t have a pattern for the lining, and it took me ages to work out how to do it properly!
The handles have wadding interfaced to them and are quilted. The lining fabric came from my mother’s stash, and I used up some Kasse Fassett remnants for the pockets. I machine sewed the outer crochet bag to the lining around the top, but am also going to hand-stitch it to the lining at the corners of the base. The lining bottom has a base made of fast-to-fuse and a layer of very firm interfacing.
I think I’ll be using this to store my ever-increasing yarn stash (which does not yet rival the fabric stash, luckily – but I’m working on it).
