Door stop
The pattern for this door stop is from Lotta Jansdotter’s book Simple Sewing. I needed some fast sewing therapy – this fit the bill, and it’s useful!
It was super-quick to make. I reduced the pattern pieces to 80% of the original, but they could probably have been made smaller again. It took loads of dried beans to fill! Probably a couple of kilos (I used up the ones that have been sitting at the back of the cupboard for years, since I figured if they’d been there that long, we obviously don’t cook with dried beans). And as you can tell, I’m still going using that Ikea fabric!
You obviously bought more of that Ikea fabric than I did!
You’ve inspired me to make doorstops.. and read more of that Lotta Jansdotter book!!
thats so adorable! if i had a door to stop open i would surely make this.
I thought it looked HUGE in the book- good tip. Think I need to go to Ikea for some fabric!
Hi…
What are the finished dimentions of the one you have made at 80% reduction?
Cheers, Skye
Hi Skye,
Sorry it’s taken me a little while to get back to you – I’ve been away for a few days! Finished dimensions were 5 1/2 inches square around the bottom, 6
1/2 inches tall, and 4 inches square around the top. It’s still huge – I reckon that it could easily be reduced further.
