Koula’s bag
Another day, another bag! Happy 40th birthday Koula!
This is the Charming Handbag, from Amy Karol’s “Bend-the-rules Sewing”, made pretty much as per the pattern. I did add a light layer of Pellon throughout, and an interior pocket. Rather than the velvet ribbon in the book, I added a yo-yo brooch.
The fabric is Joel Dewberry. I’m not certain yet if this bag is really Koula’s style, but I like it! Hopefully she will too.
What a fabulous bag and the dress you made is totally delightful 🙂
wow… your dress looks amazing, i love it.
Your bags are realy good too.

That looks so well made. I only discovered what pellon was yesterday. LOL Why do I get the feeling that the last 20 years of progress passed me by? LOL
Gorgeous! What’s not to love about this bag?!? Even the lining fabric rocks and the fabric yo-yo suits it perfectly. Lucky Koula.
Gorgeous bag Lara; lovely work……..I just lost the plot at the machine with another bag from the same book and I gave up. I made that many mistakes….the only thing I got right was the embroidery on the front….aaarrgghhh!!! You’ve inspired me to go back and give it another go.
Forgot to say I tagged you Lara – if you feel like it check it out at my blog. Cheers Donna
This is beautiful! (I think the interfacing is a big improvement.) I also love the use of the Manzanita branch fabric. I’ve had a hard time finding a use for that print that didn’t end up looking “Halloweeny,” but you really pulled it off!
