Boteh scarf complete!
I’ve finished it – the Boteh Scarf, from Interweave Crochet.
I used Bamboozle yarn from Lincraft, which is a bamboo and cotton blend. Once I got used to using it instead of wool, I rather enjoyed it. There are fifteen motifs in this scarf rather than the sixteen in the pattern – I’m a short person!
It has rather nice drape, and has come up well after blocking (which I do with a steam iron – which is not at all what any of the books say to do). I’m planning on doing a couple more as Christmas gifts. If you make this scarf, remember to check the online errata, as there is an error in the pattern.
I was excited to receive this pattern in the mail today – I won it from Ballarat Patchwork via their blog Scrap Bag.
It was very exciting to win something – especially a bag pattern, and it’s my first by Amy Butler. It seems quite unusual though – a bag with a side zipper? Anyway, I’ll give it a go!
Congratulations on finishing the scarf it’s stunning! The Tag Blanket is such a good idea. I had an idea for a friend’s grandson about knitting a blanket with different rainbow coloured squares within a white framework but varying the stitch so it creates different textures. I’ve not made it yet I’d better hurry up as he’s fast growing. Can you do a similar thing with crochet? I keep meaning to re-look-up what doubles are. LOL I seriously need to clone myself to get these ideas made.
That scarf is amazing! I love the way it looks on.
GREAT SCARF! I love it! I need to brush up on my knitting skills…it is on my list of things to do this winter!
Gorgeous scarf! I love the way it drapes.
Congrats on the Amy Butler pattern win! That bag looks like a fun design to make.
If you’re interested, my friends and I are having a giveaway this week on our blog. Enter to win chances at yarn, fabric, chocolate and other goodies. We’re celebrating the autumn equinox in our part of the world and thought a giveaway would be a great way to share the fun.
It is gorgeous!!!! I think that I’m going to have to hunt for this mag!
Lustworthy honestly. I told my ladies about it already. Couldn’t help it – I love this scarf! You did a great job.
I love the scarf – color, drape, fit – everything!!! Great job and congrats on the pattern review and the amazing stats. You are very talented and now more people will be able to see/read all about it. 🙂
I luv this scraf. You have done a fantastic job.

Lara, I am so amazed by that scarf – seriously. You are so skilled i am beginning to feel a bit in awe of you !
Wow, that scarf is beautiful. I can crochet but haven’t done so in ages, having been addicted to knitting. Thanks for sending people over to my blog. I’ll be coming back to read yours too.
Wow, that scarf is beautiful. I can crochet but haven’t lately, being addicted to knitting instead. Thanks for sending people over to my blog. I’ll be coming back to read yours often.
Oh, that scarf is simply luscious!
Oh my gosh, this scarf is beautiful… I love all the shirts you have been making.
The scarf is beatutiful! I do not make many scarfs, as it is too hot to wear them here, but I might make this one if I can find the pattern. 🙂
I’ve made this scarf too – wasn’t it fun? I absolutely love your version in the Bamboozle. How did you find it to crochet in a smaller hook? I’m using it at the moment for a lacework pattern in a larger hook and find it splits dreadfully.
I’ve been rather enjoying your blog with your crochet and sewing creations. Thanks for sharing them.
Cheers
Michelle
I just love that scarf!!!!!! It is amazing. great work. Did you make that blue dress?
Thanks Tina! No, I didn’t make the blue cardigan – it’s from the shops.
I found an image of the Boteh Scarf in a magazine and went looking for the pattern and arrived here. Could you tell me where I could get a pattern for this scarf please.
Thank you,
Maree Gibson
